What a name, eh? Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump is a UNESCO World Heritage site at the western edge of Canada’s prairies. It will blow you away… quite literally.
Located at the foothills of the Canadian Rockies, it is only calm there 11% of the time. Otherwise it’s blowing like mad as one of Canada’s windiest places. If you haven’t been, you need to go learn about the amazing archeological, scientific, and cultural significance. 6000 years of use!? Simply awesome.
I shot this when Erin and I visited in August, 2004. Thanks to the smart UNESCO designers, that handrail prevented us from blowing off the edge and getting our heads smashed in.
